With the premiere of Iron Man 2 just a little more than half a year away, it's finally time to be seeing some great marketing from Paramount get rolling for the sure-to-be blockbuster. And now we have the first: a teaser poster has been released featuring the familiar armor, and some armor that's not-so-familiar for the uninitiated. Who is that hulking grey figure standing behind our protagonist?
That's War Machine, a character we've already seen before, though without his armor. Col. Rhodes, played by Terence Howard in the first film, is the figure beneath the gray gauntlets, though he's played by Don Cheadle this time around. Though "Rhodey" was a friend to Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) in the first film, the second time around, the relationship's going to be a bit different, especially since Rhodey works for the government and Stark is a free contractor. A brawl between the two isn't out of the question, especially when the U.S. begins demanding to confiscate Stark's armor.
The film, which also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke, and Scarlett Johanssen, will open May 7th, 2010. The first preview is said to be attached to this December's Sherlock Holmes, which also stars Downey, Jr.
