So with a trailer for "The Hobbit" revealed earlier this week, alongside the latest goings on of Gotham and a return to the deepest darkest realms of space with Sir Scott, Martin Freeman has started to discuss Middle Earth and all that. Peter Jackson has also unleashed a new image for us all to take a look at too. He is nice like that.
Martin Freeman commented that "The first thing I filmed was finding the ring in Gollum's cave. It's good to know, but not play, the importance of the Ring, I'm trying to put a but more heaviness into it. It's not all comical."
Not a tremendous amount then, but I'm sure more information will eke out over the coming days, weeks and months until the first instalment of The Hobbit finally reaches us is just under a years time. That being An Unexpected Journey on 14th December 2012 followed by There and Back Again on 13th December 2013.
A picture of Martin Freeman dressed as Bilbo Baggins can also be seen below.
Freeman will be joined on screen by Ian Holm, who will play the old Bilbo Baggins, Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey, Richard Armitage, Graham McTavish, Ken Stott, Aidan Turner, Dean O'Gorman, Mark Hadlow, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Peter Hambleton, William Kircher, James Nesbitt as the Company of Dwarves who accompany BB and GTG on their escapades. Also returning are Christopher Lee, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving.
However some fans have been quick to comment on the trailer for The Hobbit, noting that it is too similar to Jackson's original Lord of the Rings trilogy. Which does seem quite peculiar to me as I'm not sure what else they were expecting. Anyway, the film will no doubt cause a lot of excitement upon its arrival in just under 12 months time.
