The awards season is on the brink of exploding, with January the time of year when nominations are announced and consideration is asked to be taken by expectant film companies. Many critics believed that Martin Scorsese's Hugo wouldn't have too much of a say in proceedings, however after it won the top honor from the National Board of Review earlier this month it is starting to be looked at more seriously.
Scorsese himself earned the Best Director trophy with George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Christopher Plummer and Shailene Woodley also being award several accolades. The Descendants three awards meant that it was the most lauded film of the evening.
