Just in case you weren't happy with the first full trailer of The Dark Knight Rises last week or the 6 minute prologue before Mission Impossible 4 of Bane messing about on board an aeroplane didn't whet your appetite enough to contemplate building a time machine to transport you directly to the day of film's release date, Chris Nolan has released some Dark Knight Rises pictures. But if you weren't impressed by all of the latter then there is probably no chance that these images will impress you too, you ungrateful bastard you.
These new images give a clearer view of Batman's new weapon without actually revealing precisely what the gun is for, as well as showing the Dark Knight riding around town aboard the Batpod.
Elsewhere there's also a fresh, new image of Bane in which Tom Hardy has another opportunity to show his new physique, which is quite impressive. I could get that kind of body too you know, it's just that it looks like a lot of effort.
It's probably safe to imagine that there will be a bit of a gap until some more promotional material is released but you can expect the viral campaign to move into gear after the Christmas break.
The Dark Knight Rises will of course be directed by Christopher Nolan from a script by the director and his Jonathan Nolan. It will star Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy. It is set eight years after the events of The Dark Knight and see's Batman return to Gotham City after he assumed responsibility for Dent's crimes in order to protect his reputation and was subsequently hunted by the Gotham City Police Department.
The film will be released on July 20th 2012 and will compete alongside The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers and Prometheus for the most anticipated film on the summer.
