This year's Oscars have a healthy mix of clenchers and no-brainers, and the Best Actor award is one of the n0-brainers. Jeff Bridges is going to win, just like he won the Golden Globe. Also, Jeff Bridges is going to give a humorous yet wistful acceptance speech that will have us all smiling happily as he returns to his seat.
Jeff Bridges has got in the bag for his role in Crazy Heart, in which he starred as a drunken country singer. Surprisingly enough, Bridges has never won the Best Actor Oscar. I think he can safely start clearing out a space on his trophy shelf for this one.
Jeremy Renner was very good in The Hurt Locker as Sgt. William James, but he's a distant second to Bridges for the award. Colin Firth also has about the same shot for his role as a man grieving for the loss of his partner in A Single Man.
As great of an actor as Morgan Freeman is, he won't win for his role as Nelson Mandela in Invictus, and neither will George Clooney for Up in the Air.
