After a rambling introduction by Sean Penn, who presented the award, the Academy Award for Best Actress went to Sandra Bullock for the film The Blind Side. While I'm not a huge fan of the film (I consider it to be racist in a sort of white paternalism way), I think there's no denying that Bullock is a great actress. This weekend has marked Bullock's winning for both Best and Worst Actress (Bullock attended the Razzie Awards to claim her trophy).
Bullock's speech was heartfelt and held a few tears, and laced with bits of humor (referencing a "grudge" against George Clooney).
I'm disappointed that Meryl Streep didn't win, but I think Stanley Tucci's monologue about her said it all. Congratulations to Bullock, and let's get into the big awards.
