Variety today has announced that Mr. Robocop himself, Peter Weller, has joined the ever growing ensemble cast of the new Star Trek sequel.
The specific details of his role have still not been reported and comes after it was announced that Alice Eve had joined the cast, with Benicio del Toro Abrams' first choice to play the films villain.
All of the former cast will be returning, which includes Chis Pine and Zachary Quinto, with Abrams directing a script by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof, with that quadrant joined by Bryan Burk and David Ellison in the producing ranks, through Bad Robot and Skydance Productions.
Filming on Star Trek 2 is due to commence in early 2012, with the film due to be released on May 17th 2013.
