Seth Grahame Smith kindly revealed to the world the US's 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, was fighting vampire's for pretty much his entire life. Now with Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov bring Old Honest Abe's exploits to the silver screen under the guise of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, two posters have been released.
Abe will be played by Benjamin Walker, and it will see Lincoln haunted by the murder of his mother, a victim of the fanged villains. Fuelled by his thirst for vengeance, Lincoln swears to wipe out every last vampire but needs to be trained by a helpful member of the undead, a man named Henry Sturgess who is played by Dominic Cooper.
We follow his life and his marriage to Mary Todd Lincoln, who is played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead and his rivalry with the evil Adam, Rufus Sewell. Also there is the extra problem of the American Civil War as Abe attempts to take down slavery and those evil SOBs.
The film is based on the 2010 written by Smith with the screenplay adapted by the man himself. Fox beat out many other studios in a bidding war for the film and Walker also had a fair share of competitors for the role of Lincoln. Adrien Brody, Josh Lucas, James D'Arcy and Oliver Jackson-Cohen were also interested in the character. Filming began in March 2011 in Louisiana with a budget of $69 million and is to be produced in 3D.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is scheduled to be released in both 2D and 3D on June 22nd 2012. It is yet to be confirmed whether Richard Nixon: Troll Cleanser and JFK: Back From Hell will follow Lincoln into production. I just made up those last two films.
Will Lincoln make for a brilliant action adventure film? Are Burton and Bekmambetov are wonderful duo?

“Vampires” is plural; “vampire’s” is possessive.
