Last week we revealed the first rehearsal images of Daniel Day-Lewis dressed in his full Lincoln regalia, Abe being quite possibly the most infamous president the United States has ever had. Now you can see what Lewis looks on Spielberg's set too.
The image above has now gone online and it even shows Lewis wearing the stove-pipe hat which has become so synonymous with good old honest Abe. The film has an astonishing cast which includes Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee-Jones, James Spader, John Hawkes, Michael Stuhlbarg, David Strathairn, Walton Goggins, David Oyelowo, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Jackie Earle Haley, Lee Pace and Jared Harris, yet sadly no Brian Dennehy. Massive shame that.
Lewis has apparently already been infamous form of Method acting since March. Previously this has seen the actor refuse to leave his wheelchair on the set of My Left Foot, breaking two ribs in the process and livein a hovel for the duration of The Crucible, which generally left him smelly and uncomfortable to be around.
Lincoln is to be directed by Steven Spielberg, a relatively unknown commodity in the filmmaking world, with Spielberg also producing alongside Kathleen Kennedy from a script written by Doris Kearns Goodwin, Tony Kushner, John Logan and Paul Webb. The film is based on Goodwin's biography of Lincoln, entitled, Team Of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, and will focus on the last four months of Abraham Lincoln's life. Spolier Alert! It doesn't end well for the 16th President of America.
Producer Kathleen Kennedy recently spoke to Collider about her expectations for the project.
Shooting for the film began on Monday, October 17th and Lincoln is due to be released in late 2012, through Touchstone Films.
