New banners for Marvel's superhero summer epic The Avengers have arrived online. These panoramic promos split the super-villain-battling force into two groups, as there are too many to squeeze onto just one.
The first banners shows off the most iconic members of the team, with include Robert Downy Jnr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Dr. Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk before he goes green, and Chris Evans as Captain America.
The second banner reveals Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Black Widow and Loki played by Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson and Tom Hiddleston respectively.
The artwork is massive, with big and bold typing, as per usual to Marvel, and is in complete juxtaposition with the usual gritty quads and one -sheets that populate our multiplexes.
The two banners can be viewed below ...
The Avengers will be produced by Marvel Studios and is the sixth installment of the Marvel cinematic universe which has so crisscrossed across several superhero films that include Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk in 2008, Iron Man 2, 2010, Thor, 2011 and Captain America: The First Avenger which was also released in 2011.
It has been in development since April 2005, with the film truly building up a head of steam when Joss Whedon attached to both write and direct in 2010. The Avengers has a budget of $220 million.
The current premise of the film is that when an unexpected enemy emerges who threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, the director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D, finds himself in need of a team of superheroes to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Much ado about nothing then really.
Will The Avengers be worth the wait? Can Whedon handle the mass amount of stars he has at his disposal?
The Avengers will be released on May 4th, 2012.
