Prometheus now has a teaser poster. It is dark, gloomy and filled with doom and what else did we expect? Sporting the ominous tagline "the search for our beginning could lead to our end," the poster shows us one space explorer approaching a giant head which has previously been revealed in official production stills.
Originally intended as a direct prequel to the genre defining 1979 science fiction horror film Alien, Prometheus will now not precede any of the previously established characters or story's from the Aline franchise.

The film will star Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba and Charlize Theron as a group of intergalactic explorers who discover a clue to mankind's origins on Earth. It is to be directed by Ridley Scott, who made the original Alien film, with Scott producing alongside his brother Tony Scott, David Giler and Walter Hill, from a script written by Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihts.
Noomi Rapace will play Dr. Elizabeth Shaw who has been likened to Ellen Ripley from the films previous franchise with Theron playing Meredith Vickers, who she described as a "suit who slowly sheds that skin through the film." Fassbender's role is that of an android named David, with Lindelof being directly inspired by Blade Runner in his writing of the character.
David will emphasize on the relationships between androids and human beings with Lindelof noting, "What does the movie look like from the robot's point of view? If you were to ask him, "What do you think about all of this? What's going on? What do you think about these humans who are around you?" Wouldn't it be cool if we found a way for that robot to answer those question?"
Prometheus will be released on June 8th 2012, with Scott shooting both a PG-13 and R-rated version of the film.
