Jack The Giant Killer has been developing rather slowly over the last few years. New Line Cinema originally hired D.J. Caruso to direct the fantasy adventure which the company described as an adult look at the Jack and the Beanstalk legend and would be written by Darren Lemke.
However by August 2009 it was reported that Bryan Singer would be replacing Caruso and this became official a month later, with the Superman Returns director hiring screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, who he had previously worked on Public Access, The Usual Suspect and Apt Pupil with, to re-write the screenplay.
Wow! Quite a lot of drama then, but now a trailer has finally been released which you can lay your pretty little eyes on below ...

From the looks of the trailer, Jack will be filled with spectacle, drama and comedy and some pretty impressive set pieces that will no doubt take place half way up the giant beanstalk.
The synopsis for the film reads that Jack, played by Nicholas Hoult, is still a humble farm lad and comes into possession of the magical beans and even though he has been warned not to get them wet, the silly sausage can't help himself. Thus a mammoth beanstalk sprouts up taking Jacks abode and the Princess Isabelle played by Eleanor Tomlinson with it. So Jack climbs up to rescues her coming up against many foes along the way.
Singer had previously told reporters that the film is a "very traditional fairytale, probably the most traditional thing I've ever done. But it'll also be a fun twist on the notion of how these tales are told."
Alongside Hoult and Tomlinson is Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, Bill Nighy and Ewan McGregor and the film will be released on June 15th 2012.
Does Jack The Giant Killer look good to you? Does it remind you of the fairytale?
