The first John Carter trailer arrived earlier this month with much fanfare and expectation, but if you were after some extra footage which is filled with Japanese subtitles and voice-over, then follow this link and enjoy.
The clip is introduced by director Andrew Stanton, of Finding Nemo and Wall-E fame, who informs us that this film will be very different from his more family orientated Pixar projects and enthuses about his passion for the film. We get to see Carter, played by Taylor Kitsch, before he heads to Barsoom and the tragedy that unfortunately killed his family.
There are also plenty of other shots of Carter and his merry bunch of cohorts clashing on the planet which you can enjoy, even though it has already been viewed in the previous trailer. We have now had an opportunity to view three separate promo's for John Carter, with the first providing us with the mood of the piece rather than the plot and the second giving us a little more information on who Carter will come up against, plus a lot more CGI for us to divulge.
Stanton has been slaving over the film for several years now, blending studio work with desert location shooting and some hefty CGI to bring Edgar Rice Burroughs tale of a dispirited US Civil War veteran who finds himself transported to the planet Barsroom, aka Mars.
Once he arrives, Carter quickly becomes mixed up in a power struggle and finds both friends, mainly Willem Dafoe's Tars Tarkas, and enemies, Mark Strong's Matai Shang, who he has a massive conflict with.
John Carter is due to be released on March 9th 2012 and it's stellar cast includes Kitsch, Strong, Dafoe, Lynn Collins, Thomas Haden Church, Samantha Morton and Ciaran Hinds.
It will be interesting to see if Stanton can adapt to live action movie making.
