I had never heard of Despicable Me until I found it on Apple Trailers. The film has been kept rather quiet up until this point, but once I saw the second trailer, I knew it was going to be one of the more talked-about children's films of the summer.

The film revolves around the antics of supervillain Gru (voiced by Steve Carrell), plots to steal the moon from his underground lair under his suburban home. However, his plans are interrupted by three children (Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, and Elsie Fisher), who want him to be their daddy, even though he's a cold-hearted supervillain. But h onestly, he has the voice of Steve Carrell. You know he's going to accept them.

Also featured are the all-star comedic voices of Russell Brand and Jason Segel (both from Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Will Arnett (Arrested Development), Kristin Wiig (Saturday Night Live), Danny McBride  (Tropic Thunder and Eastbound and Down), Julie Andrews (The Sound of Music, Shrek 2) and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords). If that's not the best cast you've ever seen for an animated film, then you're crazy. I will go see this movie just to hear the voices alone, regardless of the storyline that looks like it actually might be good.

Despicable Me is currently slated for a July 9, 2010 release. Here's the film's second trailer, for your enjoyment.
